The Baking Detective mysteries
The blurb says…
‘I just make cakes . . . It’s not my fault these murders happen wherever I go.’
Journalist-turned-baker Mira Woode has accidentally become known as the cooking world’s answer to Jessica Fletcher from Murder, She Wrote.
In this first mystery in The Baking Detective series, Mira becomes embroiled in a murder at a filmmakers’ society annual party when her knives are used to commit the crime and the police decide she may just be a person of interest . . .
The race is on for Mira to solve the mystery, bake the cake and clear her name before she’s sent to prison for a crime she’s pretty sure she didn’t commit. Can she do it?
Find out in Slice, Slice, Baby, book one in the new cosy mystery series that’s perfect for fans of The Thursday Murder Club and Murder, She Wrote.
The blurb means…
You see, the thing is, Cleo Forsum doesn’t really exist, but then she does. She’s the main character from the novel My Other Husband, written by me, Dorothy Koomson. So, you see what I mean when I say she does and doesn’t exist? She’s like the Schrödinger’s cat of writers.
In My Other Husband, Cleo writes the Baking Detective books and TV series, but has a terrible secret that is resulting in the people around her getting hurt.
I loved creating the character of Cleo and her very messed-up life for My Other Husband and after some thought and encouragement from readers who constantly asked about the possibility of The Baking Detective becoming a real series, I thought, why not?
And I loved it.
Writing a Baking Detective book as a different person was wonderful. It was a different kind of challenge and I was very much there for it. I loved it so much, I can’t wait to do it all over again. I hope you love reading it.
Mira Woode and her adventures are most fun to pen and I fully intend to write some more. It’s only available in eBook at the moment, but the audiobook and the paperback will hopefully be coming soon. Want to get a whole new perspective on My Other Husband? Grab this book. (If you don’t have an eReader, you can read it on a tablet or phone using the Amazon app.)
I’d love to hear what you think of The Baking Detective story. Do drop me a line via my website www.dorothykoomson.co.uk or leave Cleo a nice review for her book 😉
