I watch a Star Trek episode everyday.
I watch a Star Trek episode everyday. Yes, really. At the moment it’s episodes of DS9 and Next Gen.
Next Gen was my favourite.
At my age, I obviously started my Trekkie journey with The Original series. Spock and Uhura were my faves. Then came Next Gen.
When I worked in Forbidden Planet, a comic shop, BBC news came in when Next Gen was returning to our TVs. They spoke to a few people who worked there, but it was me who got on Newsround. My manager said I sound like a complete nerd.
Picard was my fave Captain. This was one of the things I was explaining at length to Dr K the other day. He was just my favourite.
I used to rush home from work at New Woman magazine on a Wednesday night to catch the last 30 minutes on BBC2. I used to video tape episodes when I could.
Growing up, growing up again and growing older now, sci-fi and a little bit of fantasy were a huge part of my life. Star Trek was at the heart of all of it.
Like I say, I watch at least one episode of Star Trek every day.
After losing Walter Koenig, this.
Am so sad that the man who brought my favourite Star Fleet captain to life is no longer with us. It feels so unfair when we’ve already lost so many decent people this year already.
R.I.P. Sir Patrick Stewart, forever Professor X and Jean Luc Picard.
